Welcome to MiB, new active ❤️
It's wonderful that you have come along to do meaningful and developing volunteer work for the benefit of all career mothers! At MiB, we want our active members to be the happiest in the world. We offer you orientation and meaningful activities at the beginning of your active career.
With these tips you will start your active path the easiest
Sign up as an active
Sign up to be active and join the MiB Actives group on Google Groups. This will get you added to the MiB Active Register and the Active mailing list and give you access to the necessary active materials.
Get to know people and join in conversation
Get to know the actives in your local chapter and/or team.
The best way to meet them is through your chapters’ own communication channel for actives, which you can find out about from competence officer or team leader.
Also join the MiB community on WhatsApp. There are groups in the community where you can chat with other activists, MiB staff and the board:
General and Shared: a general discussion forum between the board, employees and actives, where all MiB actives are welcome.
Ask MiB employee: A general discussion forum for employees and activists where you can ask for advice, guidance, etc. on any problems related to activism. This is also the place to ask for space for the MiB office.
MiB active community leaders: A closed group for employees and volunteer leaders, i.e. branch leaders and team leaders.
To protect the community, you can only join using the links in the document below. To open the document you will need active Drive permissions, so please check out step no. 1 first.
Participate in an onboarding session
In order to have the necessary knowledge and skills to be effective, participate in training and orientation sessions held by the employee.
Basic onboarding training
Event organisation training
Member recruitment training
You can participate in the training sessions through online meetings or by watching the training recordings. You can also watch the recordings independently and at your own pace. See the training schedule, recordings and training path on the training portal.
Learn more about local activities
Participate in local and/or task-specific induction. Local and task-specific inductions will go through MiB's local activities, how to organise events and your tasks from a local perspective. Your local competence officer will tell you more about local induction and the timetable.
Begin the action!
Organize a MiB event. The most rewarding and educational way to learn about MiB is to organise an event. You can either come up with the idea yourself or go along with someone else's idea. It's easy to organise an event, especially with the help of a more experienced colleague, so it's worth getting actively involved in the community forums. And hey, anyone can organise an event, whatever their role!
The rest is up to you <3
Your skills and your desire to develop will drive you forward in your MiB career.

Local activity in MiB
Local sections are responsible for the activities of their local area
Local sections are designated and operate by region. The sections are run by volunteers and are responsible for organising events and activities at a local level within the provinces in Finland.
The local section is coordinated by the local officer(s) and all actives, regardless of their role title, can organise events and lobby on their own behalf. The actives in charge of the local section support the organisation of events, networking and creating impact, which are core activities of the association.
What is an official local section?
A local activity is officially designated as a local section when a member can register in the membership register as a local section in their county. Local chapters also have their own operating budget, which can be distributed to localities within the province.
Local chapters allow MiB to send targeted messages and event invitations only to members of that chapter and provide statistics on the number of members in the chapter.
Starting a new local activity or section
Starting a new local activity is easy - all it takes is the enthusiasm and initiative of one person who is interested in doing something local and networking in their community. One way to start a local activity is to organise an open and informal mingle that brings together like-minded mothers in the area.
It is possible for a new community to receive a small start-up grant to run the activity.
Support for starting a new local chapter and getting start-up money can be obtained from a MiB staff member, info(at)mib.fi. Feel free to get in touch!
Establishment of a new local section
Local sections have been designated and operate by province. The sections are run by volunteers and are responsible for organising events and activities at a local level within each province. MiB does not yet have chapters in the following provinces:
Åland
South Ostrobothnia
Kainuu (waiting to be relaunched!)
To start a local section, a region must have at least 40 MiB members and an enthusiastic active team committed to running the activities. A county can apply to the association's executive director for local section status by submitting a free written application.
The rest is up to you ❤️
