How language impacts our professional identity

In this guest blog, Gunta Ahlfors from Väestöliitto’s Recognizing International Talents project writes about the role of language in forming our professional identity. In what language do you feel the most comfortable in professionally?

The Recognizing International Talent initiative was started in 2020 with the aim to improve the Diversity and Inclusion skills of employers and their ability to recognize international talents in the recruitment processes. Finland needs more skilled labour force and the internationals living here need more possibilities to get recruited in their own professional field.

Have your say - MiB’s first-ever survey in English is open!

The first MiB International survey is targeting MiB’s international members, active volunteers and other mothers - both international and Finnish - interested in our activities. The aim of the survey is to gather information on the experiences, interests and expectations of international and internationally-oriented mothers - by answering the survey, you will help us plan our activities and advocacy work in 2022! “Amazing events held with messy hair and a nursing bra because it does not demean our professionalism” What is it like to be a MiB International active?

We are proud to introduce three of our international volunteers. We asked them how they became actives at MiB and what are the key reasons for them personally to do volunteer work. We also wanted to hear what has been the best thing about volunteering at MiB and what they have gained during their time at MiB. Meet Simba, AnaMaria and Rabea!
